But when she leaves the only home she’s ever known, wanting only to see the floating lights that appear on her birthday, she gets caught up in an adventure across the kingdom with two thieves-a young woman named Gina, and Flynn Rider, a rogue on the run. For eighteen years Rapunzel stays locked away, knowing she must protect others from her magical hair. For her safety and the safety of the kingdom, Rapunzel is locked in a tower and put under the care of powerful goodwife, Mother Gothel. With it comes dangerous magical powers: the power to hurt, not heal. Nonetheless, it heals the queen, and she delivers a healthy baby girl with hair as silver and gray as the moon. If you're into fairytales, fairytale retellings and Disney I recommend this book.Desperate to save the life of their queen and her unborn child, the good people of Corona search for the all-healing Sundrop flower to cure her-but mistakenly acquire the shimmering Moondrop flower instead. Other than that I think this book is worth 4 stars. It should have been dragged out much longer I think. I also felt like the new plot of "What if the Evil Queen poisoned the Prince?" didn't come till much close to the end. Luckily it didn't stay like that for long and it became that the queen later just became greedy. My only criticisms are I felt like The Evil Queen's story started off with the annoying sob story that Disney (and back when once upon a time was on) does for almost every villain now. I also liked that yes even though Snow White wanted to fight and take back her kingdom, that at the same time it didn't go totally off the wall and try to make this a far left feminist story. We also get a dark storyline of the mirror. We read about Snow and the Evil Queen's flashbacks, Snow when she was a little girl and the Evil Queen when she was young with her sister Snow's mother the Queen. With certain scenes yes they can be but I can tell you for the Snow White Twisted Tale, that this actually adds stuff that makes the story better. Some people complain when these books were written that so many scenes were just a play by play of the movie. When I saw there was going to be a Snow White Twisted Tale and the fact another author was writing one, I was excited. The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast twisted tales I weren't so pleased with. I enjoyed A Whole New World, Once Upon a Dream so much. Its been awhile since I gave a Twisted Tale book something above 2 to 3 stars. But keep in mind the target market is Young adults and not really mature readers. Overall i would say if you are open to different interpretations of fairy tales or just want something new to read give it a shot. Perhaps at the very end but honestly there is just a lot of flirtation and general awkwardness between them. There is not any "adult" content in the box so for parents wondering how adult the book is I cant even recall the prince and snow white ever even kissing. Like the rest of the series you can tell it is meant for a Young Adult reader, but can be enjoyed by anyone of any age. But the author did a good job none the less. But i would have liked to see more of snow white and possibly have the prince poisoned maybe earlier on in the story. I enjoyed the read i thought it was well written and interesting enough to want to keep reading. I did appreciate the backstory of the evil queen, but I felt that snow white was almost a side character in her own story. Instead most of the focus is on character development and seeing how the evil queen becomes corrupt. What if the evil queen poisoned the prince? okay intriguing, but the twist like some of the others, is not until the very end. This twist didn't really add or take away from this story at all. Comparing this book to the others I can say they all pretty much follow the same "flow" either the twist is in the beginning or at the end of the story. So i like to see how different authors tell the story from a different perspective. On the surface the Snow white fairy tale is generally pretty weak, a pretty girl being cast out by her evil step mother and finds love. Snow white is one of my favorite story tales so i was excited to see what the author did with this story. I have the entire " twisted tales" series and of course purchased this one to continue the collection.
